The Kedipek Story

From the Heart of the Cat!

In Iran, cats aren’t just pets, they’re part of our daily lives. Maybe our deep connection with them has something to do with the shape of our homeland. If you look closely at the map of Iran, you’ll notice it resembles a sitting cat, and in a way, we all live in the heart of that cat.

Me and Kedipek

My name is Mohammad, and since 2009, I’ve worked in the pet and aquarium industry in various roles. What’s always brought me joy is knowing that the real customers I serve are the animals themselves.

In 2016, I noticed a growing frustration among cat owners in Iran: imported cat trees were expensive, poor in quality, and didn’t last. That’s when the idea for Kedipek was born. I set up a small workshop, and by early 2017, production officially began.

Kedipek quickly grew into a trusted brand, partnering with nearly 500 retailers across Iran and exporting to several countries. The name combines the Turkish words kedi (cat) and ipek (silk) symbolizing a perfect balance of comfort and durability, which we bring into every piece we create.

Kedipek in Canada

Driven by curiosity and a desire to grow, I moved to Canada to build something new. It was a chance to challenge myself, explore new perspectives, and lay fresh roots in a different culture.

Like many newcomers, I started with general work, not as a setback, but as a way to learn, adapt, and contribute. It wasn’t long before I became Facility Manager at a private zoo to deepen my connection to this new home.

Still, I felt the call to return to the mission that brought me here: to grow as an international craftsman and share my work with a wider world. Around that time, trade tensions and tariffs between the U.S. and Canada were rising. But rather than feel limited, I felt inspired to create something truly local, valuable, and lasting for cats and for the people who love them.

Today, I’m proud to bring Kedipek to Canada with the same passion, craftsmanship, and love for animals that started it all. My hope is to earn the same trust and reputation here that Kedipek holds in the Persian cat community back home.
